Pinewood Derby Day.

This past Saturday was Braden's first experience with the annual pinewood derby race hosted by Boy Scouts of America. It was an all day affair and even though Braden's car brought home last place, he was a great sport (which was not the norm for all the other losers) and he had a great time.
Braden designed his own car with very minimal help from Uncle B. (Brandon didn't quite trust him with the saw...good idea Babe). It's official weight was 4.7 ounces, close to the "legal" limit of 5. Braden was proud of his car, but picked up several tips from his friends (fathers of friends is more truthful) for next year's model.

Once all the scouts were done racing the leaders of the Pack hosted an Outlaw Race, which is basically a race for all the dads to show off their skills. Brandon built himself a car for this race because he didn't want to be left out of the fun. His car too placed near last, but he had lots of fun working on it and learned some new tricks for next year.
If you really know my husband, you know he is a VERY PROUD Texan. So, of course, his car was all about Texas, right down to the Texas quarter he stole from my mom.
They both worked very hard on their cars, and even though neither of them brought home a big trophy to display in the living room (as if that would happen), I am very proud of them and their efforts. Next year, however, there are no excuses...I expect to see trophies!
